How We Review Online Casinos
Every casino on BonusFinder UK must hold a valid UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) licence. We check each licence on the UKGC Public Register before anything else, and an unlicensed operator is excluded whatever its other scores.
We then test each casino hands-on, from sign-up to withdrawal, and compare what we find with the operator's own terms and with third-party sources such as player feedback. We try the desktop site, the mobile site and the iOS and Android apps where they exist, and we test live chat and email support. We work out the real value of every bonus from the wagering requirement, the maximum bonus, the game contribution and the time limit. Every review is fact-checked before it is published.
Our reviews are independent. We may earn a commission when you register through our links, at no extra cost to you, but this does not affect our evaluations, and we reject brands that do not meet our standards. You can read the full detail in our editorial policy.
How We Score Casinos
Each casino is scored against six weighted criteria that reflect what matters most to UK players.
| UKGC licence and compliance (25%) | We verify the licence on the UKGC Public Register, check that it is active and free of regulatory sanctions, and check compliance with UKGC consumer protection rules. Unlicensed operators are excluded. |
| Responsible gambling tools (20%) | GamStop integration, deposit and loss limits, self-exclusion, reality checks and a clear link to BeGambleAware, easy to find and not buried in menus. |
| Bonuses and promotions (20%) | The real value of the bonus from the wagering requirement, maximum bonus amount, game contribution and time limit. We flag terms that fail UKGC fair and transparent standards. |
| UK payment methods (15%) | PayPal, debit cards, bank transfer and other methods accepted in the UK. Credit card gambling is banned in the UK, so a casino that accepts credit cards is disqualified. |
| Games and software (10%) | Library depth, mobile compatibility, software provider reputation and whether RTP information is displayed clearly. |
| Customer support (10%) | Response times on live chat and email, the quality of the answers and whether support is available during UK hours. |
A casino must pass our minimum threshold for UKGC licence and compliance to appear in any of our recommended lists. No score in another category can offset a licensing failure.
How Often We Update Reviews
When an operator changes its terms, we review the page and update it. We also monitor UK Gambling Commission rule changes. If you spot something out of date, tell us through the contact form and we aim to correct it within 48 hours.

Are These Casinos Safe? Licensing and Player Protection
In the UK, online casinos, slot sites and sportsbooks are regulated by the UK Gambling Commission. Some of the casinos we review are international and may also hold a licence from the Malta Gaming Authority, the Alderney Gambling Control Commission or the Gibraltar Betting and Gaming Association, but to trade legally in Great Britain a site must hold a remote gambling licence from the UKGC.
What is the UK Gambling Commission
The UKGC was set up as part of the Gambling Act 2005 and began operating in 2007. Any company which takes money from British players for the chance of winning a prize has to apply for a UKGC licence.
You can check that a site is legit by looking for the UKGC licence number at the bottom of the casino or betting site's web page and searching for it in the Gambling Commission's online register.

How Licensed Casinos Protect Players
Before granting a licence the UKGC makes companies prove a clear and transparent ownership structure, sufficient financial safeguards, fair gaming systems and appropriate player protection. Player funds must be held in a separate account from the company's operating cash, and sites use SSL encryption to secure transactions.
When you register you will be asked to verify your age and identity, and a casino may run affordability checks. These Know Your Customer (KYC) checks protect vulnerable players and keep children from gambling.
Games use a random number generator (RNG) to decide every outcome, and the software should be tested by independent organisations such as eCOGRA. UKGC rules also require casinos to publish the RTP (return to player) of their games. A slot with an RTP of 96% returns an average of £96 for every £100 staked over a long period, which is a guideline, not a guaranteed return.
GamStop Self-Exclusion
GamStop is a self-exclusion programme that helps players control their online gambling. If you need a timeout you can register and be prevented from using gambling sites run by companies licensed in Great Britain, for a fixed period. All UKGC licensed casinos must take part in the scheme, and we only recommend licensed sites, so you will not find any non GamStop casino bonuses on our lists.

What to Check in a Welcome Bonus Before You Sign Up
A sign-up bonus might be free spins with no deposit, free casino cash on registration, a first deposit bonus or deposit match boosts. No two are the same, so read the terms before you opt in. Some bonuses limit the games you can play with them, and deposit method restrictions can mean that only debit card deposits qualify.
Wagering Requirements
A wagering requirement is the number of times you must play through the bonus, or the winnings from your free spins, before you can withdraw. In our scoring, 20x or less is excellent, 25 to 35x is good, 40 to 50x is average, 60 to 70x is weak and anything over 70x is poor. There is also a time limit, and different games contribute different amounts, with live casino games often contributing little or nothing. Our wagering requirements guide explains how to work out what a bonus is really worth.
No wagering free spins are becoming more common in the UK. Your winnings are converted to a cash balance straight away instead of being held as bonus funds. You may need a larger minimum deposit to qualify, but they are worth more than most no deposit bonuses.
